Service for Sight

Delta Gamma Foundation
Delta Gamma Foundation provides resources for educational growth and philanthropic service
for all members. Delta Gammas give more than 86,000 hours a year in volunteer service
in a variety of ways to their communities.

In 1936, at the urging of blind member Ruth Billow, Eta-Akron, Delta Gammas adopted Sight Conservation and Aid to the Blind as an
international project. Delta Gamma's work for the visually impaired became unique among philanthropies as members answered the
needs within their own communities as well as on the international scene.

We can be proud to be the most pro-active Foundation in the Greek world. Our success is due to our members’ lifetime commitment to
Delta Gamma. The motto “Do Good,” penned by our Founders before the letters Delta Gamma were even chosen, is alive and well in
the 21st century.

Locally, our San Antonio DG Chapter strives to fulfill this purpose through our involvement with several organizations in the greater San
Antonio area. Read more how we are Doing Good in San Antonio below.

Prevent Blindness Texas
San Antonio DGs have been priveledged to serve on the Board of Directors for Prevent Blindness for a number of years. We work with
Prevent Blindness through our vision screening program which provides free screening to many of our local schools to assist them with
early detection of vision problems in children. DGs also have been instrumental in helping to plan the People of Vision Dinner, a
fundraiser hosted each year by Prevent Blindess San Antonio. If you would like to volunteer as a vision screener, please contact our
vp:Foundation Ann Heindel.

Egg Hunt 2010
Our annual beeping Egg Hunt for Visually Impaired Children and their families welcomed record numbers at Morgan’s Wonderland in
March! There were over 200 people in attendance with about 40 visually impaired children enjoying the hunt. Photos from the event
can be seen in our photo galleries. Thanks to all who volunteered to make it such a huge success!

Labels for Education
Collect your labels from Campbells, Swanson and Pepperidge Farm Products
and bring them to a meeting. We collect these and send them in to Delta Gamma
Foundation who gets money for each label. You only need to clip the UPC code
and Labels for Education logo. (examples at left)
